"I think transwomen, and trans people in general, show everyone that you can define what it means to be a man or woman on your own terms. A lot of what feminism is about is moving outside of roles and moving outside of expectations of who and what you’re supposed to be to live a more authentic life.”

Informed Consent Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy
What is Informed Consent Hormone therapy?
Canopy Medical provides Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy to transgender and gender diverse individuals using the informed consent model. This means that you do not need to see a therapist before seeking out care. The informed consent model for gender-affirming treatment seeks to better support your right to personal autonomy and encourages shared decision making between yourself and your provider.
An initial informed consent visit will take approximately 1 hour. All risks and benefits of hormones will be explained to you and you will have ample time to ask questions. A thorough health history and exam is also completed.
Once hormone therapy has been started, check-up visits occur every 3 months for the first year. Visits can then be spread out to monitor your transition.
Will my insurance cover hormone therapy?
Many insurance companies cover hormone therapy. Canopy accepts most major insurances. Contact your insurance for more information about your specific coverage.
For uninsured patients, Canopy does offer payment plans and same-day payment discounts. We are happy to work with you regarding payments. We firmly believe that everyone should have access to quality healthcare, and never want cost to be a barrier for transitioning.
