What to expect at Canopy Medical when seeking approval for medical cannabis? An initial appointment will include a review of your medical history and a short physical exam. Outside medical records are requested regarding your qualifying condition. Education is provided about the risks, benefits and possible side effects of cannabis. We will review ND laws and provide instructions on how to apply for your card. The first visit to discuss medical cannabis needs to be in-person, face to face. This is to comply with the ND medical cannabis law. All follow-up visits can be completed via our telehealth platform. The North Dakota medical cannabis law requires a "bona fide" relationship with your provider for your medical cannabis card. To maintain this relationship, a follow-up appointment is required 3 months after you first receive your medical cannabis card, and then on a yearly basis. These appointments are to make sure you are not having any negative side effects, and to ensure your goals are being met with medical cannabis use. Insurance can be used for these visits. You can find a list of insurances we currently accept here. |
