Canopy's TelePrEP program provides a convenient new way to access Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), an option for maintaining HIV negative status. PrEP medications are highly effective at preventing HIV, reducing the risk of infection by 92–99% for those who take it daily as prescribed.
If you are a MN, ND or SD resident, our TelePrEP program allows you to virtually connect to a qualified provider who can prescribe you PrEP through telemedicine. This means you can use your personal electronic devices to have provider “visits” without having to leave your home. You’ll be able to see, hear, and speak to a provider face to face to discuss your PrEP medical care.
Step 1: Contact Us
Contact Canopy Medical Clinic by phone, email or text and let us know you are interested in TelePrEP services. e’ll give you an overview of the process and collect everything we need to make this process easy for you, including information for the pharmacy and testing lab.
Step 2: Get Tested
To start PrEP, you must currently be HIV negative and free of STIs. We’ll coordinate getting you tested at a local lab so that we can make sure your body won’t have adverse reactions to the medication. You can also utilize the North Dakota Department of Healths' free At-Home Testing services.
Step 3: Medical Appointment
After your labs come back, our providers will review your results to confirm PrEP is right for you. They’ll connect with you virtually (a simple consult over video using a SmartPhone, Tablet, or computer), or you can visit our Fargo, ND office.
Step 4: Get Your Meds
We work with Avita Pharmacy, which specializes in LGBTQ+ Health to get you your meds. Avita will work to make sure your medications are the lowest cost possible and will mail you your prescription for free.
