Tyler, HIV Outreach Coordinator, MPH
Tyler works at Canopy to organize HIV testing events within the community. This includes working with organizations and events in the Fargo community to expand testing services for HIV and build access with the community.
Outside of Canopy, Tyler is an HIV/STI Outreach Coordinator at North Dakota State University, Department of Public Health. Through this role, Tyler works with the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) to provide comprehensive education to healthcare facilities and providers regarding HIV and STI prevention, screening, and treatment. He also develops HIV/STI educational materials for regional healthcare facilities. Previously, Tyler worked in community health in Northern Indiana, assisting with program management and treatment retention for individuals living with and at high risk for HIV through medications such as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). Tyler completed his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2020 from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a special focus on the impact of stress in chronically ill pediatric patients. Tyler completed his Master of Public Health degree in May of 2022 from Southern New Hampshire University. His capstone project sought to identify methods to increase equitable HIV testing and treatment services to LGBTQ+ individuals in the Fargo, ND area. He is actively intersted in PhD, DHSc, and DrPH programs which focus on sociomedical studies and community program building and leadership. Outside of work, Tyler is an active classical musician who enjoys reading, spending time with his fiancé and their dog, and continuing his education in the sciences.
