What is Pregnancy Options Counseling?
Options Counseling give you a private, non-judgmental space to ask questions about your pregnancy options. These include abortion, adoption and parenting. Our staff can provide support and give resources on all of your options. We do not try and convince you which option is best for you, but are here to answer your questions.

If you learn you are pregnant and decide to terminate the pregnancy, we will provide resources on what to expect and where to go.  Abortion is both safe and legal in Minnesota and North Dakota. For individuals looking for abortion services in our region, we recommend The Red River Women's Clinic, located in Moorhead, MN.   Our staff at Canopy support an individual's right to choose abortion and many of our staff members have worked at abortion clinics in the past.

If you choose to continue a pregnancy, we will provide you with a list of resources to help you obtain prenatal care. We can  provide early prenatal care up to 12 weeks and can get you started in the right path for a healthy pregnancy.

If you choose to continue a pregnancy and are considering adoption, we will provide you with a list of local agencies that can help you.

Self-Managed Abortion
Self-managed abortion usually refers to taking medications that will induce an abortion. Typically the abortion process is not under supervision of a medical professional. Often individuals receive support from a telephone hotline or online platform. Possible benefits of self-managed abortions include being able to take medications from the privacy of your own home surrounded by loved ones. Research is showing us that self-managed abortion can be just as safe as receiving an abortion in a medical facility, as long as individuals have accurate information and receive quality medications.

The following links provide accurate, researched based education on self-managed abortion, and are for educational uses only. If you have questions about abortion or pregnancy, please seek out care from a licensed healthcare provider.
